Learn about Facebook edits within Reels videos

Facebook is refreshing the in-app video center to give its content a Instagram-style change, and the changes will bring Reels’ editing tools to all Facebook videos, as well as the new “Explore” section to highlight popular clips and other recommendations.

It also come with a new name the tab formerly known as the “Facebook Watch” will now simply be called “Video” and the section will continue  who will host short clips such as Reels as well as live videos and longer content, appearing at the top of the Facebook app, according to the engadget report.

The new brand comes at a time when Facebook’s video strategy has changed dramatically since the first “watch” section in 2017. At the time, the company was paying heavily for TV shows and other long content created for Facebook. Now, many of Meta’s video ambitions are centered around TikTok’s competitor, Reels, and other algorithmically recommended clips. Last year, Mark Zuckerberg said his goal is to turn Facebook into a “discovery engine” that displays more content outside of users’ social charts.

Some of these features appear in the new video tab on Facebook, which contains the new Explore section similar to the Explore network on Instagram, there users will find sets of popular videos and other recommendations grouped by classification tag.

Meta also takes steps to more closely integrate Reels on Facebook with Instagram. Facebook has encouraged users to post Reels from Instagram to Facebook for some time. Now, the company is also unifying comments across the two apps so that users no longer need to switch to Instagram to comment on an Instagram-generated pulley.
