Microsoft is currently testing a new feature of the AI-powered Bingchat robot, an image-identifying feature, in preparation for its launch soon.
Microsoft provides this feature to a limited number of users of the Bingchat chatbot, and some users of the chatbot have reported their new feature over the past two weeks, according to aitnews.
As the name suggests, the new Image ID feature allows users to upload images to, and then ask questions about, the Bingchat robot.
According to some users who had the opportunity to experiment, image recognition has many benefits, as it can scan the image, discover and interpret its content, and answer questions.
Michael Barakheen, head of Microsoft’s Web Services and Advertising business, confirmed that the new feature is available to nearly 10% of Bingchat users today.
Barakheen added that the feature is currently only available to computer users, but Microsoft plans to expand support for Bengchat mobile users as well, and also reports that image recognition will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
Brakhin also tweeted him that the long document survey support test will start next week for a limited segment of users.
He added that the pilot test to integrate the Bengchat robot into external browsers has been paused because the developer team has detected many issues and errors, especially in a safari browser on Apple devices, indicating that the test will resume sooner.
Microsoft previously announced that the Bingchat robot was available to everyone without the need to use a Microsoft account, supported voice input in many languages, and Microsoft has been adding new features to the robot periodically since its launch months ago.
