New Amazon page alerts buyers to returned or unsafe products

Amazon argued that it is not responsible for the products other companies sell on its website, but now it adds a new layer to let customers know about recall and safety alerts.

Amazon has a new place to share product recall information for purchased products on its website, and a dedicated alert page can help consumers see if anything they bought on Amazon has known issues that make it dangerous to keep using it, according to theverge.

Amazon says it is “always proactive” in notifying customers of items purchased on its site that are part of a withdrawal or otherwise have security alerts. But now the company is creating a custom space where it says customers can be more aware of recalls issued on Amazon-required items, and customers will also receive a “Custom Email” with details about product recall, as well as an alert banner posted on your Orders page.

Amazon has been criticized for being too slow to pull dangerous products such as loaded USB cables. including those under the AmazonBasics brand, For years, In lawsuits about hair dryers or flying plates that can ignite your home or illegally imported items, Amazon argued that it is more than one platform that acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers than a retail store and is not responsible for these items as a seller. These are just some of the reasons why the Consumer Product Safety Committee filed a lawsuit against Amazon in 2021. Saying: “We seek to hold Amazon responsible for other products it sells “on its website.”

When you click on the product recall alert, however you will receive it, it will link back to Amazon’s “Your recalls and product safety alerts” page, from there, you can find out exactly what the risks are to the product and what treatments are available, including refunds, returns or repairs, in theory at least, this means Amazon will communicate with each customer who may have purchased a recalled product, and vendors will not be the primary means of delivering handling instructions.
