Russian Research Center Kaspersky warned Google Chrome users of deleting “bad apps” with nearly 87 million downloads that steal credit card details, and security experts warned Google Chrome users of some dangerous apps.
If you have previously downloaded a Chrome app or extension, it is worth checking your browser for red flags as you have transferred The Sun.
According to Kaspersky Code: “A few dozen malicious plug-ins were discovered in the Chrome e-marketplace (the official Google Chrome browser extension store).
“The most common of these plugins have been downloaded over nine million, and these plugins have been downloaded in total about 87 million times.”
Cybersecurity researcher Vladimir Ballant discovered apps.
First he found an extension called PDF Toolbox in the Google Chrome online store and was worried about his behavior.
This led him to further investigate the store and uncovered 34 false extensions about its purpose and could put the devices at risk.
Apps are said to have been on the e-store since 2021 and 2022.
This means that reassuring users have plenty of time to download them.
Google has since removed all extensions from its online store.
Check your device if you think you have downloaded it before removing.
The Code mentioned: “As a general rule, browser plug-ins require consent to view and change all your data on all sites.
“I.e. they see exactly everything you do on all the sites you visit, and they can arbitrarily change the content of the page displayed.”
The creators of these extras can steal your credit card details, collect your data and snatch your ads.
To stay safe conduct your research before downloading any apps or accessories.
