Snapchat has announced a new rewards program for Snap AR creators based in India, which will reward Indian creators who use Snap AR to create filters and other augmented reality (AR) experiences, which are then introduced for use to global Snapchat users.

Snapchat has actively launched new features and engagement strategies recently, with the company aiming to generate revenues close to $1.13 billion in Q3 2023.

Joseph Darco, Global Head of Augmented Reality Developer Relations at Snap Inc, said in an official press release: “We are committed to rewarding the value AR creators bring to the platform with the new Lens Creator Rewards program.”

Snapchat was launched in September 2011, and the app allowed users to share images and text content that would disappear after 24 hours, later and the platform expanded its features to include audio and video calls as well.

In January 2015, the platform launched its Lenses feature, which brought filters to users to try, as Snapchat now wants to incentivize viral filter creators with this initiative.

Snapchat’s revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $1.07 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $1.05 billion, and the number of daily active users for the app increased by 14% year-on-year to 397 million in the second quarter.
