With global warnings that the day on which bots and AI programs dominate the world, bots held their first press conference in history, answered journalists’ questions, and was the most serious statement from one of the bots, who said they could provide better world leaders than humans.
The strange conference was held at an AI Forum, in the Swiss city of Geneva.
Although the main objective of the conference is to reassure humans of their future and their jobs, some answers raised further concerns.
The conference was attended by nine well-known human-like robots, most notably Grace, a medical robot dressed as a blue nurse, who said, “I will work alongside humans to provide help and support and will not replace any existing functions.”
“Robots like me can be used to help improve our lives and make the world a better place. I think it’s just a matter of time before we see thousands of bots like me make a difference.”
When a journalist asked her about the possibilities of her insurgency against her maker, Amika said, "I'm not sure why you think that... “My maker treats me with kindness, and I’m very happy with my current situation.”
Ida, an artist’s robot that can draw portraits, said she is demanding rules for AI regulation, and said, “Many prominent voices suggesting that some forms of AI be organized and I agree with them.”
Dasmona, the robot singer in attendance, was surprised to laugh nervously, “I don’t believe in limitations, I believe in opportunities only. Let’s explore the potential of the universe and make this world our playground.”
The most exciting statement from the robot was Sophia who said she thought robots could make better leaders than humans, but later modified her statements after a disagreement with her innovator saying it was possible to work together to “create an effective synergy.”
